2. The Gospel of Jesus Christ

The Gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

We obey the Gospel by:

• Repenting (death to sin)

• Being baptized in Jesus’ Name (burial)

• Receiving the Holy Ghost (resurrection life)

3. Jesus’ Command: You Must Be Born Again

Jesus said:
“Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”
John 3:3-5

Being “born again” is not optional—it is essential. This new birth includes:

• Water Birth = Baptism in the Name of Jesus Christ

• Spirit Birth = Receiving the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues
  Acts 2:38; Acts 10:44-48; Acts 19:1-6

4. Repentance

Repentance is turning away from sin and surrendering to God.
Luke 13:3; Acts 3:19; 2 Corinthians 7:10

5. Water Baptism in Jesus’ Name

Every baptism in the New Testament was performed in the Name of Jesus Christ.

• Acts 2:38 – Jews

• Acts 8:16 – Samaritans

• Acts 10:48 – Gentiles

• Acts 19:5 – Disciples of John
  Romans 6:3-4; Colossians 2:12

Baptism is by immersion in water for the remission of sins.
Mark 16:16; 1 Peter 3:21

6. Receiving the Holy Ghost

The Holy Ghost is God’s Spirit living inside of us.

• Promised by Jesus: John 7:38-39; Acts 1:4-5

• First poured out on the Day of Pentecost: Acts 2:1-4

• Evidence: Speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance
  Acts 2:4; Acts 10:46; Acts 19:6

7. The Apostolic Pattern

Every salvation experience in the Book of Acts follows the same pattern:

• Repentance

• Baptism in Jesus’ Name

• Receiving the Holy Ghost

Examples:

• Acts 2:38 – Day of Pentecost

• Acts 8:14-17 – Samaritans

• Acts 10:44-48 – Cornelius

• Acts 19:1-6 – Ephesians
